Co-op Engineer Information

PREMIER has supported the Cooperative Education Program since 1995, employing approximately eight Co-op Engineers between three office locations. Our Co-op Program prepares Electrical and Computer Engineering students for a successful career in controls and automation, giving them hands-on experience and expanding their technical skills under the guidance and direction of a mentor. In the first work session, Co-op Engineers undergo HMI and PLC training, assist with building industrial control panels, participate in the design of an industrial control system and assist in field operations.

The mission of our Co-op Program is simple: train our own engineers. We seek to hire our Co-op Engineers upon graduation, because we know they are trained, experienced, and skilled engineers with an edge over their competition.

Co-op Engineer Requirements
  • BS or MS in Electrical and/or Computer Engineering or Computer Science

  • Minimum overall GPA of 2.7 (transcript requested)

  • Successful completion of entry-level/introductory engineering coursework

  • Full-time academic enrollment during co-op work sessions

Entry-Level Engineer Information

Most Entry-Level Engineer positions are filled through the Co-op Engineer program. However, occasionally, PREMIER has the need for additional Entry-Level Engineers due to continuous growth and expansion. These positions are generally filled through College Recruiting efforts. Entry-Level Engineers undergo similar training and career development to that of Co-op Engineers, under the guidance and direction of a mentor. Entry-Level Engineers can expect to undergo HMI and PLC training, assist with building industrial control panels, participate in the design of an industrial control system and assist in field operations.
